Philly Phrenzy: How the Phillies Have Elevated Their Game [even more] This Year

Published on 24 May 2024 at 09:31

Currently the most dominant and the most successful team in the major leagues, the Philadelphia Phillies are on a legit roll this year and they do not seem to be cooling down. Let's take a dive into how they got here and how they will maintain such high levels of success.

The Build-Up

Leading up to this year, this squad has been thriving for a while now. With the addition of Bryce Harper to the roster in 2019, and a plethora of other offseason moves and draft picks, this Phillies squad entered the limelight two years ago when they made the World Series out of nowhere as a wild card team, something only 15 other teams had done at that time. In the next season, the Phillies again found success, going down in the NLCS to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Squad

When you look at this team, the level of success is absolutely absurd for how young they are at some positions. Spotlights point to the third baseman and 27 year old veteran Alec Bohm, who has tore the league up so far this season. So far this year, Alec Bohm leads the team in RBIs (42), Hits (58), and qualified batting average (.330). Another infileder who has been dominant is Bryson Stott, Philly's second baseman who maintains some of the most consistent and strong numbers across the board. The final spotlght today is the one and only Bryce Harper, who currently has bombed 10 homers so far this year and that number does not seem to be dropping.

The Season

Currently 34-14 so far this year, the Phillies lead the league with the best record and do not seem to be slowing down in the future. They are 8-2 through their last ten, and have very impressive records home and away, with the home record being 19-8 and the away record sitting at a comfortable 15-6. These numbers show this team can succeed where ever they play, and I do not believe there is any chance or impication they will slow down.

The Future

Although they have a decently difficult next few series', this Phillies team does not seem to be stopping their rampage. Backed by the most polarizing yet loyal fan bases in sports, this team has all the tools to continue to succeed. Plus, with all the craziness going on in the American League and the unbelievable record and stats they have displayed, this Philadelphia group is going places.
