As College Basketball continues in full swing, and Women's basketball's Elite Eight begins to soar in viewership, the Frozen Four fades in the spotlight. Yet, this competitive Final Four of Division one hockey will not disappoint, not in the slightest. With Boston College coming back from a 4-3 deficit to Quinnipiac in OT and Michigan running away with 2 goals in the span of around a minute, these next two games will be action packed to say the least. Let's analyze how these teams faired to get here and who will continue a national championship path.
Boston College:
Ranked the number one team for a solid amount of this year's regular season, the Eagles stayed strong throughout this year's postseason. However, this recent win against Quinnipiac was one of the most tremulous and polarizing games of the year. Going to OT all tied up at 4-4, the Eagles made waves with an extremely fortunate goal resulting from a deflection and a mishap by Quinnipiac's goalie.
Denver:
Following a tight game against Cornell, the Denver Pioneers are locked and loaded for this year's Final Four. After evening the box score through the first, Denver snuck in a goal through Cornell's tough defense to go up 2-1, and they never gave the lead back, ending the game 2-1 following an action-packed yet scoreless 3rd period.
Boston University:
The Terriers made their second straight Frozen Four this year with a fierce win over the Gophers this weekend. Although they trailed 2-1 through the first period, they caught fire in the 2nd period, outscoring Minnesota 3-1, and they did not let up. Minnesota could not break through BU's defense in the third, giving up two more goals in the Terriers' 6-3 win.
Michigan:
In what was arguably the most awaited game of the weekend, the Wolverines matchup against the Michigan State Spartans was definitely a good watch. Staying even at 1-1 into the third, Michigan and Michigan State traded a pair of goals until the Wolverines knocked two into the back of the net in a minute, and the Spartans just could not buy a goal following that.
While the Frozen Four is over a week away, stay ready, as the matchups of Boston College vs Michigan and Denver vs Boston University will be some of the best hockey you will ever get to watch, and the results could go any way.
